UAE Business Environment Food for Thought Lifestyle Social Entrepreneurship Sustainable Design 1 Smile by Lama Saleh 12/08/2013 Nothing smells better than a good cup of coffee in the morning, couple that with the comfort of knowing the coffee has been ethically traded. Founder Kim Thompson and her business partner Matt Toogood, UAE National Barista Champion for 2011, offer you that and more at their RAW Coffee Company with locally roasted 100% organic 100% fair trade Arabica beans. “Fair trade is the most important factor in our selection of the specialty green beans,” says Thompson.

Tired of the coffee offering available in the UAE, Thompson took matters into her own hands and RAW was created in 2007 to source premium beans from around the world, roast them locally, and supply the specialized blends and single origin beans to UAE cafes, restaurants, businesses and households. They are working on launching kiosks in Dubai this year. “The focus will be on very high quality coffee served by trained professional baristas, the look and feel will be modern, slick and fast service,” says Thompson.
