Optical Illusions in the Streets of Istanbul

Turkey Art & Photography The Arts 14 Smiles by Mustafa Al Hayali 17/12/2014 The streets of Istanbul do not lack things to see and explore. A city rich with culture, heritage and religion, it has been known to inspire artists from all over the world. Spanish artist Pejac decided to add his own signature to some of the city’s historic walls.

Known as one of the most talented street artists in the world, Pejac does minimalistic illustrations that are based on optical illusions that are seen all around the world in multiple applications. On his recent visit to Istanbul, Pejac chose the Üsküdar neighborhood as the host for three illustrations, naming them “Lock, Poster and Shutters”. The artist created the illustrations using brushes, acrylic paint, pencils and sand paper, resulting in stunning visuals that you could literally get lost in.
