A Real-Life “Paradise” for Man’s Best Friend

Iran #Live2Give 2 Smiles Credit: Pardis Animal Shelter by Shirin Wertime 7 hours ago Sick and abused dogs and cats are getting a second chance at life in Iran thanks to the hard work and dedication of a small group of individuals in the northwestern city of Tabriz. Pardis Animal Shelter was founded three years ago in response to local authorities’ cruel and inhumane dog cull , which saw animals being starved and beaten to death. Jila Pourirani , the shelter’s director, calls on regional governments to stop the killing of stray dogs , arguing that “all of God’s creatures have a right to life.” Instead, she says, they should help support her organization, which provides a humane solution to the problem of stray dogs.

Pardis Animal Shelter rescues dogs from across Iran , providing them with food, shelter and medical care. A lucky few are adopted, while the rest remain at the sanctuary under the loving supervision of Ms. Pourirani and others.

Unfortunately, providing for these neglected and abused animals comes at a heavy cost for this small, independent nonprofit. The organization is in serious need of donations to pay for food, vaccines and medical bills on a continual basis. This little corner of paradise, home to close to 300 dogs , is solely funded through the generosity of individuals.

Donations can be sent to the organization’s representatives in Europe, North America and Iran. For more info – Pardis’ website and Facebook page ||||| 2 I Like It!
