Dokkan Afkar is an e-commerce site that sells great products targeting the young and hip generation of Saudi Arabia. Dokkan Afkar, which means “Shop of Ideas” in Arabic promotes original, local and creative products, mostly gadgets, home decor and culturally inspired items, and has just managed to secure an investment from Mobily Ventures.

Mobily Ventures handles the venture capital investments for telecom giant Etihad Etisalat, based in the UAE and launched last year. Dokkan Afkar is Mobily Venture’s first investment in a Saudi Arabian startup. It has previously invested in the mobile taxi service Easy Taxi, online food delivery website Hellofood and the music streaming service Anghami.

According to Ammar Waganah, CEO of Dokkan Afkar: “The concept of the site is not a copy of a Western site, it is a result of creative minds coming together to form a locally relevant internet project. Dokkan Afkar is more than just an e-commerce website; we aim to become a home for creative people who have ideas for products that can add to people’s lives. Our vision is to help these ideas see the light and contribute to the community.”
