Muharrem headed off for a morning walk with his sister to find the surprise of his life. As he made his way across the streets of Istanbul, every single neighbor he encountered was able to communicate using sign language. Overwhelmed and surprised, Muharrem, who is hearing impaired, reached a square where dozens of strangers unveiled the surprise.

Although the video –and ad by Samsung Türkiye promoting a new video call service for the hearing impaired– has a clear commercial scope, its message goes beyond a touching marketing strategy to highlight a humane pondering: how easy it can be to make someone’s day better. According to The Telegraph, Ad agency Leo Burnett Istanbul spent a month planning the advert and teaching Istanbul residents sign language to surprise Muharrem.

Viewed over 5 million times on Youtube, the video went viral in less than a week since its launch, spreading a hopeful call to bring all barriers down.
