Dubai Opera Opens to Boost the City’s Cultural Life

314 Smiles For the past decade Dubai has been building itself up to become a radiant center for travel and tourism. Grand buildings have been rising up everywhere distinguishing the city, and this year a long missed venue for performing arts was added to the collection. Dubai Opera is a step towards boosting the city’s cultural life.

Although plans for Dubai Opera have been announced in 2012, it wasn’t until 31, August, 2016 that the master piece opened up its doors. The Opera is located in the Opera district- downtown Dubai, a short walk from Burj Khalifa , and is definitely the best destination for quality entertainment production and performances. The Opera has a contemporary D-shaped design with the exceptional ability to transform into three modes: theatre, concert hall, and a flat floor for events.

This means that the venue can host different kinds of performances from theatrical style performances like Opera, bally and music theater to local concerts. And even though it has 2,000 seats, it can still be rearranged to host events like conferences, fashion shows, galleries and art exhibitions, since half of the seat can be stored underground making the space wider. Adding to that, the building also has a rooftop restaurant and a sky garden with the view of the world’s largest choreographed fountain, the Dubai Fountain, and the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa.

With all of these features, the venue has become a world class production environment already targeted by many international art performances. The opening ceremony was commemorated by the Spanish tenor, Placido Domingo , opera performance. Since then many classic, artistic performances including: bally, opera, magic and music performances filled up the place.
